Professor Lee's Laboratory For general assistance call Melody at (573) 341-4453 Take a sneak peek of our Virtual Lab Tour
Our research program addresses tasks pertaining to chemical process engineering as applied to emerging technology, enhancing conventional technology and green engineering, as well as trouble-shooting of problems encountered in the chemical industry. Specifically, our research expertise lies in the areas of alternative fuels, transportation fuels, hydrogen technology, supercritical fluid technology, polymerization and polymer processing, chem/bio counterterrorism, chlorine dioxide technology, scale-up and scale down, and process engineering optimization. Our research has resulted in a number of U.S. and foreign patents, licensed technologies, publications in refereed journals, technical reports, as well as articles in national and international conference proceedings. The research team comprises of, besides Professor Sunggyu Lee, several research associates, visiting scholars, doctoral and masters level graduate students, as well as undergraduate students. Equipment and instruments in our research facility include 4 polymerization reactor systems (with separate peripherals), 2 continuous and semi-batch coal processing reactor systems, an oil shale retorting unit, 5 self-contained supercritical fluid process systems, 4 other high-pressure reactor systems, an emulsion polymerization reactor system, 2 DME to hydrocarbon reactor systems, a comprehensive extrusion facility (2.5", 2", 1", 3/4" diameters), 2 fermenter systems, GC/MS, 6 GC's, DMTA, Tensile Tester, Mooney Viscometer, FTIR, HPLC/GPC, TOC, S analyzer, CHN analyzer, Cl analyzer, BET/Chemisorption, Ash Fusion analyzer, Oxygen bomb calorimeter, Coulter counter, Freeze dryer, Ultracentrifuge, Spray dryer, Walk-in incubator, Environmental hood, Rheometer, Injection molding, Twin-screw Extruder, Optical Microscope, Ohio-state heat release measurement system, Processall polymer reaction system, Brabender mixers, Henschel mixers, etc. For more details or specific inquiries, please contact us. |
