Bio

Dr. Bate joined the Missouri S&T faculty as an Assistant Professor in The Geotechnical Engineering Program in June 2011. He earned his B.E. from Tsinghua University in 2002. He then started his graduate study in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) through a graduate recruiting program between HKUST and Chinese Ministry of Education. After receiving his master degree in Civil Engineering from HKUST in 2005, Dr. Bate continued his graduate study in Georgia Institute of Technology, where he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering in 2011.

 

Research Interest

Dr. Bate's research interests include sustainable soil improvement with surfactants, polymers and microbial precipitates, beneficial reuse of fly ash, coefficient of retardation characterization of a pilot nuclear site, geomaterials characterization with mechanical and electrical waves, and behaviors of organic modified soil-water-air interfaces.
