h = 0. What is its speed at h = 5 m, when the springs A and B, each have an unstretched length of 3 m and 3 m respectively, while the spring C has an unstretched length of 4 m ? Also calculate the maximum distance travelled by the mass.

h = 0 m.When the cylinder moves to h = 5 m, its gravitational potential energy at this position is given b as equal to 20(9.81)(-5) = -981 J.
The initial and final elastic potential energy are V1and V2 respectively,
V1 = 0,
V2 =2[0.5(50)(sqrt(3 2+5 2)-3) 2] + 0.5(40)(9-4) 2
= 900.71 J.

T1 + V 1 = T2 + V2 ;
