DR. Jason Baird, Lt. Col. USAF Retired

Research Assistant Professor, Rock Mechanics and Explosives Research Center

 

 

 

 

Research Experience

 

Dr. Baird works in the areas of blast testing of composite material/masonry construction retrofits, structure demolition, development of new blasting agents, gas turbine and chemical rocket propulsion, energetic materials, advanced polymeric and composite materials, explosive taggant research, and most recently, explosive-driven magnetic flux-compression generators for pulsed power applications. He is on the faculty of the Rock Mechanics and Explosives Research Center at UMR, where he has published articles and chapters in more than twenty journals and books on energetic materials and propellants during his short tenure.

Dr. Baird is the President of Loki, Incorporated, a successful small business participating in a wide range of energetic materials topics and performing test and expert witness services. Loki also has held and holds SBIR Phase I and Phase II projects from the US Army and US Navy.

 

Professional Status

           

Holder of BATFE Explosives License, Missouri Certified Blaster Certificate (since 1998), Missouri Certified Pyrotechnician Certificate (since 2001), Certified Miner in Surface, Underground, Shaft & Slope Mines for Coal, Metal, and Nonmetals. Certified at Level III in Systems Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering for the Department of Defense (1995)
