Academic Alert System

The Academic Alert System: a helpful tool for students and instructors.

Missouri S&T is committed to the success of its students by providing an environment conducive to teaching and learning. To ensure that every student takes full advantage of the educational opportunities and support programs on campus, the university has implemented the Academic Alert System.

The Academic Alert System is a web-based application that supports communication among instructors, advisors, and students. The purpose of the Academic Alert System is to improve the overall academic success of students by improving communication among students, instructors and advisors; reducing the time required for students to be informed of their academic status; and informing students of actions necessary by them in order to meet the academic requirements in their courses.

Although I created this system (database and web application) before I started working on this degree, I made changes to this application while working on my degree.

  • When an alert is issued, the student, advisor, and department head are notified. The automatic notification for this system was changed to make all the same notifications when an alert is also updated.
  • Modified and added reportsthat instructors can run for the web application.
