Retrieving Top-K data set in wireless sensor networks.

In many applications of wireless sensor networks like habitat monitoring and forest fire, we are interested in the K highest/lowest values recorded in the network. As we all know, the sensor nodes are battery operated, retrieving all the sensed data from the network consumes a lot of energy. Our main objective is to retrieve that data which is of highest interest by consuming minimum possible energy, reducing communication overhead and thereby increasing the network lifetime.
