In order to achieve the high standards in industry, companies are forcing
themselves to build new intelligent systems, which bring more flexibility in product design, process planning, and process control. These new systems will be able to adhere to demanding design requirements, and attain these requirements with less a priori knowledge of plans and environment. Artificial Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic, and Evolutionary Programming are attractive solutions to these difficult needs because of their capability to handle adaptively many complex relationships between input and output.
Recent research in this area integrates artificial neural networks and fuzzy
associative memory to solve non-linear process monitoring problems using real-life process data.
