Elizabeth Cudney, Ph.D. received her B.S. in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University. She received her Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering with a Manufacturing Specialization and Master of Business Administration from the University of Hartford, and her doctorate in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri - Rolla. Prior to returning to school for her doctorate, she worked in the automotive industry in various roles including Six Sigma Black Belt, Quality/Process Engineer, Quality Auditor, Senior Manufacturing Engineer, and Manufacturing Manager.

Dr. Cudney's major areas of interest are in quality engineering, pattern recognition, and healthcare systems engineering. She currently teaches EMgt 4710 Quality, EMgt 5710 Six Sigma, and EMgt 6710 Design for Six Sigma. Dr. Cudney has published seven books, over 80 journal papers, over 100 refereed conference papers, and has additional publications accepted and awaiting publication. Her first book entitled, Using Hoshin Kanri to Improve the Value Stream, was released in March 2009 through Productivity Press, a division of Taylor and Francis. Her second book entitled, Implementing Lean Six Sigma throughout the Supply Chain: The Comprehensive and Transparent Case Study, was released in November 2010 through Productivity Press. Her third book entitled, Design for Six Sigma in Product and Service Development: Applications and Case Studies, was released in June 2012 through CRC Press. Her fourth book entitled, Lean Systems: Applications and Case Studies in Manufacturing, Service, and Healthcare, was released in October 2014 through CRC Press. Her fifth book entitled, Total Productive Maintenance: Strategies and Implementation Guide, was released in May 2015 through CRC Press. Her six book entitled, Design for Six Sigma: A Practical Approach through Innovation, was released in June 2016 through CRC Press and received the 2018 ASQ Crosby Medal. Her latest book Additive Manufacturing Change Mangement: Best Practices was released in March 2019.

Dr. Cudney serves as a Series Editor for the Continuous Improvement Series through CRC Press: Continuous Improvement Book Series. She also served as Editor for the ASQ journal Quality Approaches in Education for five years.
