Quality (EMgt 4710) - offered every spring and fall semester

Statistical analysis and methodologies for quality control in various environments/industries; experimentation for designing in quality; data driven decision-making for continuous improvement in processes, products, and services.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, students will have learned or be able to:
- Quantitatively and qualitatively identify and effectively communicate a problem.
- Select appropriate statistical analysis and quality methods.
- Interpret the results and make recommendations.
- Integrate the recommendation.
- Document and quantitatively/qualitatively demonstrate improvements.

Six Sigma (EMgt 5710) - offered every fall semester

Advanced statistical analysis for quality control in a variety of environments and industries; methods for collecting and statistically analyzing process data; graphical representation of process data; experimentation to improve process quality; data driven decision-making; process improvement methods to reduce risk from potential failure modes; implementation of process improvement recommendations; validation of improvements.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, students will have learned or be able to:
- Quantitatively and qualitatively identify and effectively communicate a process problem.
- Select appropriate statistical analysis and quality methods to analyze a quality defect.
- Quantify and graphically display baseline process performance.
- Interpret statistical analyses to make appropriate recommendations for process requirements to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Optimize process performance using appropriate advanced statistical analysis.
- Effectively implement process improvement recommendations.
- Quantitatively verify process capability for the improved process.
- Document and quantitatively/qualitatively demonstrate the process improvement.

Design for Six Sigma (EMgt 6710) - offered every spring semester

Product development methodology for the development of robust products; methods for collecting and statistically analyzing the voice of the customer; development of product concepts; experimentation for designing in quality; product modeling to reduce risk through robust design; data driven decision-making for continuous improvement in products, service design, and product design.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, students will have learned or be able to:
- Quantitatively and qualitatively identify and effectively communicate a product concept.
- Select appropriate statistical analysis and quality methods to analyze the voice of the customer.
- Interpret the results and make recommendations for new product requirements to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Design baseline functional performance of a proposed product concept.
- Optimize design performance of a proposed product concept.
- Quantitatively verify system capability of a proposed product concept.
- Document and quantitatively/qualitatively demonstrate improvement in the product design.
