I am an assistant professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology, where I have been on the faculty since 2004. I received my B.S. in Civil Engineering at National Taiwan University in 1995, M.S. and Ph.D., both in Civil Engineering, at the University of Colorado at Boulder, in 2000 and 2003.

My research interests fall into the areas of 1. Constitutive Modeling and Computational Mechanics; 2. Innovative Geotechnical Testing; 3. Nano-geomechanics, Bio-geomechanics and Geo-Environmental Sustainability.

In teaching, I mainly teach undergraduate courses in geotechnical engineering and foundation engineering. I also teach graduate courses in soil dynamics, finite element methods, and advanced soil mechanics. At Missouri S&T, I currently serve as the departmental representative in Faculty Senates and a member of the CArE departmental undergraduate program committee. Professionally, I am a member of the Soils and Rock Instrumentation Committee of Transportation Research Board (TRB) and Soil Properties and Modeling Committee and Unsaturated Soils Committee of Geo-Institute of American Society of Civil Engineerings (ASCE).
