General Discussion

• Breadboard status: 10 in the office, 15 on order. Email and fliers about the board sale need to be started as it is going to start at 9 am - 12:30 pm in the EE lobby September 9th - 11th. An engraver will be up in the HKN lab so people can sign their boards right away.
• By Law update: Is going to be presented at the first meeting, September 4th, and voted on September 25th. It is attached to the end of this listing.
• Pool tournament: all should be held in a single week, trying to get ME, and CE involved as well. James Fonda is in charge of its organization.
• Paintball: a possible activity. Places, prices and dates need to be discovered.
• Student/Faculty BBQ: September 12th. Possibly double up with I.E.E.E. Have it at Lions park with beer. Need to be verified to handle alcohol.
• Secretary needs to send out all job responsibilities to everyone that he has.

Article VIII Meetings

Section 6

a) An active member of the chapter shall be defined as any properly initiated member that has attained at least 6 points from the active member point system each semester after the member's initiation semester.

b) The active point system is defined by the following:

• 2 pts: Attending a general meeting
• 1 pt: Attending any sponsored social event
• 3 pts: Participation in workday
• 1-3 pts: Participation in a Chapter Project or Committee work (under discretion of officer or committee chair in charge of event)

c) The Secretary shall keep a list of members' points to determine those members who shall be placed on inactive status. An inactive member loses rights and privileges of membership in Eta Kappa Nu, including, but not limited to the right to wear the honor cords symbolizing membership in Eta Kappa Nu at commencement. A member may regain active membership status according to the provisions outlined in Article III-Section 15.

d) Members of the executive council of Eta Kappa Nu are exempt from attaining the required number of active points during their term. Additionally, Co-op students are exempt from attaining the required number of active points during the semesters in which they are not enrolled as students on campus.

Section 14

An active member is defined by the requirements set forth in Article VIII-Section 6.

Section 15

If a member has been placed on inactive status, active membership status may be regained by the following procedure:

a)The inactive member shall write a letter to the executive council explaining why the member went inactive and why the member's status should be returned to active

b)The inactive member shall perform a special project given by the executive council or attain double the number of active points required if more than one semester has passed since the member was placed on inactive status

Article XIII Glossary

Section 3

The term "active member" shall refer to any "member" who signifies their willingness to abide by these bylaws and has not missed three consecutive meetings. To remain active, members must also perform an active role, as defined by the executive committee, in at least one of the committees each semester. An "inactive member" may be reinstated by the chapter President or a majority vote of the active membership of the chapter.

Section 4

The term "inactive member" shall refer to any "member" who has missed three consecutive meetings and has not been reinstated by the chapter President.

The term "alumni member" shall refer to any individual who has been formally initiated in to the Eta Kappa Nu Association, is not a "student member" and:

(1) has been initiated at the University of Missouri-Rolla, OR

(2) is an employee of the University of Missouri-Rolla regardless of prior chapter affiliation.

"Alumni members" shall be non-voting members.
