HKN Minutes - 2002-10-02 (General Meeting)
Officer Reports
President
- The VP of Sandia National Labs will be here next week to give a presentation, which will be open to the entire department.
- Honeywell FM & T will be here to give a presentation the following week.
- I sent the bylaw update.
Vice President
Secretary
- Sign the attendance sheet.
Treasurer
- HKN has both a checking and a savings account. Our savings account has been dormant for more than a year, so we are being charged a $5 quarterly fee. I suggest that one of the first tasks of each semester's new treasurer is to deposit $1 into the savings account to avoid having to pay this fee. [Everyone agrees] Ill add this to the Treasurer's list of duties.
Bridge Correspondent
- James Fonda finished last semester's Bridge Report and mailed it to New York overnight at a cost of $35.
STUCO Representative
Committee Chair Reports
Pledge
- Everything is in order. The 16th of this month is the deadline for pledges to pay their dues.
Student Projects Lab
- The lab is clean, and cleaning it didnt take as long as I expected with the help. I still need to label the parts bins.
Communications
- I mailed the membership certificates to those students who were pledges last semester and also graduated.
- I also had a name plaque made for our recently elected STUCO representative. The name plaques in the display case are now current.

Issues
Old Business
- Jeremy has researched two options for a bowling night. [A unanimous decision was made for Quarter Mania during the evening of October 9th]
- Fonda has not heard from the MEs or CEs concerning our challenge them to a pool tournament. [A unanimous decision was made for an ECE faculty vs. ECE students pool tournament] I'll continue working on this.
- Brent indicated that everything is a go for paintball from 4 to 8 pm on October 23rd. We need at least six people.
- Volleyball also seems to be a go. Hendrix is working on that.
New Business
- James Fonda made a motion that we accept the pledges by acclimation. Matt Spalding seconded the motion. All eight in attendance voted to accept the pledges. Nobody voted not to accept the pledges.
