Discussion of Company Banquet: The Good

• Have 2 representatives per table
• Better advertising
• No advisor requirement
• No no-shows, only one person backed out
• More companies would make it better?
• We will make about $750

Discussion of Company Banquet: The Bad

• Attendees only interact with one company
• Attendees don't know when to leave
• Representatives don't get a chance to eat
• Nametags didn't stick
• Long speeches
• We forgot to print programs
• Need to prepare a résumé book and résumé CD
• Need to get feedback from companies
• Too many attendees already had job offers and came to fill seats
• Choose another restaurant next time?

Discussion of Bridge Report

• Need everyone to read it if possible
• Check for factual errors, omissions, typos
• Report is due in a week (Oct. 15) -- want to have it finished by Oct. 10
• Discussion of things that need to be added
• Suggestion of starting a wiki to better track the report information
• Tyler Harms will check into what is necessary after the report is finished
• Amy: We should start a wiki because 'wiki' is a fun word to say

Discussion of pledging process

• Lab was cleaned today for the pledge interviews tomorrow -- there were many casualties
• 12 interviews will be held tomorrow
• Plaque workday is 9:00-1:00 Saturday -- need to get a few supplies
• Will warn pledges not to use Scotch tape -- use masking tape instead
• Need to bring plaque dimensions to workday
• Lab cleaning: There is a large metal tub in the SPL. Does it get used? What should be done with it?
• Dr. Miller needs lots of work from pledges; Dr. Watkins and Dr. Moss do as well
• ECE test is at the next meeting

Discussion of Conference

• Ordered portfolios?
• Need volunteers -- sign up to help
• Took a picture of all officers for The Bridge

• We got two $300 checks from John Deere -- oops. Need to return one.
• Received $600 check from Burns&Mac for conference

• Need attendance from banquet to assign points
• Need list of coffee shop and tour workers to assign points

Communications Chair (Ukoh Umah):

• Minutes are now on the website
• Suggestions are welcome for website improvements
• Need to see about getting UMR PR/Public Affairs to advertise the HKN conference on the UMR website

Tours/Coffee Shop Chair (Keong Kam):

• Has receipts for coffee shop
• More no-shows for the coffee shop
• Q: Possibly take away points or good standing from those who skip? A: Start scheduling two workers per shift

Marketing Chair (Zach Johnson):

• Randy Davis from custodial services will help with the recycling program

Fundraising/Service Chair (Lance Rucker):

• Pumpkin Pi will start soon -- need to check on pumpkins

Conference Chair (Adam Flynn):

• Be There! Show up and have a good time. You don't have to travel 14 hours to get to the conference, and there will be free food!
