An Overview of the Beeman Company History.

  • The Beeman Garden Tractor, The First Successful Walking Tractor (I think)

The history of the Beeman tractors follows this basic timeline:

1915                          Walking tractor patents begin to be granted to Ed Beeman

1916 – 1917               Continuous frustration in trying to build a machine suitable for production

1919                           Beeman contracts with Gilson to make 5100 tractors

1921 - 1922               Agricultural Depression in the US causes sales to plummet.  Beeman introduces "Beeman Jr." based on a Briggs powered Gilson-built tractor.

1924                           Beeman company is on the financial ropes, sold at public auction.

1924 – 1942               The New Beeman Tractor Company sells machines and parts.  Virtually all innovation stops.
