Welcome to the Basic Engineering Department's experiment in Statics Online. Several pedagogical components make up the model for Statics Online. They are listed below. This is a "work in progress" and not all of the components are
currently implemented on the website.
- Concept Maps - material overview with forward links
- Conceptual Minilectures - sequence of short audio/graphics lectures
with backlinks
- Conceptual Self-Tests - True/False and Multiple Choice questions to test understanding
- Interactive Example Problems - simulations for classroom demostration and discovery learning
- Online Homework Problems/Quizzes - randomized, automatic grading, submission, instant feedback
- Electronic Bulletin Board - instructor/students asynchronous communications on homework problems
- Exam Material - problems and solutions made available to instructors
Statics Online is not designed to replace the instructor or the textbook. Instead, it is intended to supplement the classroom lecture and textbook, while at the same time opening up new possibilities for the instructor and the students in the classroom.
We hope you will find this site useful and will visit it often.
