Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) is The National Leadership Honor Society for college students, faculty, and staff. Membership in this organization is a great honor, and the organization prides itself in recognizing achievement in the following five areas:

  1. Scholarship
  2. Athletics
  3. Campus/ Community Service, Social/Religious Activities, and Campus Government
  4. Journalism, Speech and the Mass Media
  5. Creative and Performing Arts
Emphasis is placed on the development of the whole person, both as a member of the college community and as a contributor to a better society. The purpose of Omicron Delta Kappa is threefold:
  1. To recognize those who have exhibited a high standard of leadership and effectiveness in collegiate activities;
  2. To bring together student leaders from all sectors of collegiate life in order to help mold the sentiment of the university for questions of local and collegiate interest;
  3. To bring together members of the faculty and the student body on a basis of mutual interest and understanding.
Although the Excelsior Circle here at UMR is relatively young, chartered on May 10, 2001, ODK is nationally recognized as an honorable organization. Since its founding in 1914, ODK has succeeded in exhibiting the leadership skills and versatility of members in each of its numerous circles. The Omicron Delta Kappa "mark of distinction" is highly regarded in both the academic and business worlds. Find out more about membership, the ODK Idea, and what it means to be Omicron Delta Kappa!
