Ever wonder if the extreme environment of space affects the chemical reactions taking place inside of batteries? The Miners in Space - Batteries does. They have submitted their proposal, which outlines how they intend to study the chemical reaction rates of batteries in extreme conditions similar to those of space, to NASA's Reduced Gravity Student Flight Opportunities program and hope to be one of the 72 teams selected by NASA to build their experiment and fly it in microgravity conditions on the KC-135. They will find out this December whether or not the team has been selected.
