U.S. Navy Reserve Intelligence Command (1984-1987), commissioned Ensign, USNR 1 Nov 1984; Promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade, 1 Nov 1986. Served in Fleet Intelligence Rapid Support Team Pacific 1187 at NAS Alameda Jan 85 to Oct 87. Active duty periods at Fleet Intelligence Center, Pearl Harbor (Jn-Jl 85); Fleet Intelligence Training Center Pacific, San Diego (Jan-Feb 86 and Sep-Oct 86); Naval Aviation Schools Command, Pensacola, FL (Feb-Mar 1986); TDY with CVW-15 aboard USS Carl Vinson (CV-70) Oct-Nov ’87 and TDY with CVW-11 aboard USS Enterprise (CV-65) in May ’87 and July-Aug ‘88. |
Tactical Training Team of Commander, Patrol Wings Pacific at NAS Moffett Field (Oct 87 to Aug 91). Tactics Intelligence Officer. Taught graduate level Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) tactics. Detached to shore based aviation facilities in Pacific, Asia and Middle East twice per year and rode numerous submarines on tracking exercises. Promoted to senior Lieutenant Aug 1988. Awarded NAO wings in P-3C aircraft on 3 Oct 90. Stood up airborne blockade of Iraqi shipping in Aug 90, as part of Operation Desert Shield.
Patrol Squadron Master Augment Unit, NAS Moffett Field (Oct 88 to Aug 91). Collateral duty as VP-MAU air intelligence officer (AIO). Assistant Officer-in-Charge of Patrol Squadron Detachment-Panama in June 1991 on drug interdiction duty with JTF-4 in Key West, FL for US Southern Command.
Security Manager Naval and Maritime Intelligence Center 2020 at U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey (Aug 91 to Feb 93). Active duty assignments at Navy Security Manager Course, Naval Base San Francisco (Jn 92), Dept. of Intelligence and International Studies at NPG Monterey and Naval and Maritime Intelligence Center, Washington, DC in Jul-Aug-Sep 1992.
Senior Intelligence analyst for Joint Intelligence Center Pacific Rapid Support Team 1387 at NAS Alameda and NRC Santa Clara, March 93 to March 95. Promoted to Lieutenant Commander in March 1993. Active duty at Joint Intelligence Center Pacific at Hickam Field, HI and Pearl Harbor.
Individual Ready Reserve Force as intelligence specialist, March 1, 1995 to June 30, 2002. Served as an external reviewer for the Naval War College Review, Naval War College, Newport, RI.
