The “Si Se Puede” Minority Recruitment Program was established in fall semester of 2003 bringing 15 minority students with everything paid for 2 days. Last year our numbers doubled and we continue to work together to increase participation. Our objective this year is to recruit 40 to 50 students that meet UMR requirements and have an interest in science or engineering.

“Si Se Puede” helps students to explore the career options UMR has to offer and gives them an inside look at real college life, while giving them access to UMR & MEP scholarships that are designed to help increase the number of undergraduate minority students enrolled in one of the Engineering, Science, Business or Humanities programs that UMR offers.

During their time at UMR, the students get to interact with members of the SHPE and NSBE chapters, as well as faculty and staff that volunteer their time to teach students about their departments, answer all their questions and advise them about their career opportunities. #
