The SHPE Futbolito tournament is a famous South American version of a soccer game played with a special low-bounce ball on a basketball sized court.  The tournament is played over two days in a 5-on-5 game round robin format.  The top eight teams then advance to play the rest of the tournament in single elimination style.  The winner of the tournament receives a trophy, medals, and $75 with second place winning medals and $20.  Teams are very divers in their makeup consisting of individual from different organizations, fraternities, and backgrounds.

Futbolito Rules

 

Futbolito is played on a basketball size court without walls.

The ball is size #3 (smallest soccer ball)
This is the size used in international tournaments

Referees

- Referees are not professionals, they're amateur players
They might make mistakes in the same way as professional referees do

- If anyone yells, curses, physically attacks the referee or anyone else, the player will be automatically kicked out of the tournament

- Each team has to provide a volunteer referee

- Each referee is going to be given a rule sheet, if a call is questioned by someone,
referee should consult with the people at the score table

The Game

- Players can only play for one team

- Yellow cards and red cards will be used just as in soccer

- No cleats allowed

- Corners and out-of-bounds are throw-ins

- Substitutions can only be made when the ball is not in play

- During the game any player in the team can sub-in for goalie, when the referee allows the substitution

- Anyone not playing (subs) cannot interfere with the game, if so, they will receive a red card as a penalty.

- You can only score inside the goalie box with headers

- (CHANGED) The ball is out-of-bounds or is a goal
when any part of the ball passes the line, not when it is on top of it.

- Unlike basketball, the ball is out-of-bounds when it passes the line in the air

- If you want to use your own team uniform, you can do so

- NO FIGHTING WILL BE ALLOWED,
anyone causing trouble will be ejected without substitution

 

New rules

- When the ball hits the ceiling the oposite team gets the ball
and plays from under the plays where the ball hit

- No direct kicks

- If the goalie touches the ball outside of the goalie box
with his hands or feet, the opposite team gets the ball

- High kicks are going to be considered a kick
higher than a persons waist

- No off-sides

- After a foul or a hand ball, the opposite team has to be at least
3 meters (3 long steps) away from the ball

- Please, don't bring flags to avoid comfrontations
