The 2011 Great Midwestern Regional Space Grant Consortia Meeting will be held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on October 4-5, 2011. The Great Midwestern Space Grant Consortia and their affiliates represent the nine states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

Meeting Registration

Advance registration is required. Early registration fees are $125 for students and $175 for non-students. The early registration deadline is Friday, September 9, 2011. Registration fees between September 9 and September 23 will be $125 for students and $200 for non-students.

This year's meeting will feature a number of regional faculty presentations, a regional state Space Grant consortium director's presentation, and the Great Midwest Space Grant Region's Annual Student Poster Presentation Competition and Evening Poster Reception.

All meeting program events will be held at the iHotel and Conference Center. There will also be a tour of campus research facillities on Tuesday morning before lunch.

Student Poster Competition

A student poster competition will be held at the meeting for both undergraduate and graduate students. To be eligible to participate, students must have received some support by any of the Space Grant consortia in the region, complete the registration form, and submit an abstract. The following prizes will be awarded:

1st Place - $500
2nd Place - $250
3rd Place - $100

1st Place - $500
2nd Place - $250
3rd Place - $100

The deadline for registering for the poster competition and submitting an abstract is Friday, September 23, 2010.


A group rate block of 50 rooms (25 King and 25 Double Queen) available for the nights of October 3 and October 4 is being held at the iHotel and Conference Center in Champaign, IL. The room rate is $115/night + 11% occupancy tax. Cancellations accepted until 24 hrs. prior to arrival. You are responsible for making your own reservation.

Champaign-Urbana is readily accessible to visitors by plane, train, or automobile!
