Sumin Zhu is a Ph.D. candidate in ceramic engineering at the Missouri University of Science
and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla),
where he does his doctoral research on the processing-microstructure-property relationships of
ultra-high temperature ceramics (UHTCs).
Prior to Ph.D., Sumin did his masters thesis research on the development of porous silicon carbide based ceramics
for diesel particulate filter application.
From Sept. 2007 to Jan. 2008, Sumin worked with Hitachi America Ltd. as a materials engineering intern
in the Automotive Products Research Lab, where he contributed to multiple R&D projects with
materials testing and failure analysis.
With a plan to graduate in Fall 2008, Sumin is looking forward to developing a challenging career as a materials R&D engineer/scientist to contribute to materials innovations
with his expertise in materials and ceramic engineering developed through last 10 years systematic training and productive R&D experiences.
