Finding a place to live in Rolla can be a big problem for new comers, because there are no public transportation here, so you are restricted to live near campus. Below is some information that will give you some ideas
1. On-Campus Housing.
If you are new to the US and want to meet lots of new people, consider applying for the university housing. UMR residence halls are located in two complexes: The Quadrangle and Thomas Jefferson (T.J.). Both complexes offer single rooms, two person rooms, three person rooms, and rooms and suites which accommodate three to four people. Rooms are furnished with a refrigerator, and local telephone service is included with your residence hall housing agreement. Long distance service also is available through the university, at rates currently lower than any other Rolla area provider. A suite consists of a carpeted and furnished living area as well as either one or two bedrooms. Cable television, computer Ethernet service, and a microwave oven are provided in each suite.

2. Off-Campus Housing
Before looking for a housing off-campus, first you have to ask yourself how you are going to commute. If you do not want to commute by car, you are restricted to housings close to campus, within walking or biking distance, because there are no public transportation here. However, rental costs in Rolla are inexpensive. For close to campus apartment, you can find single bedroom with private bathroom and cable TV (all facilities paid) as low as $235.
