ABOUT "T"

Last updated: 01/13/2010

Tae-Hyung "T" Kim is an electric engineer whose expertise is focused on Network Simulator-2, Cellular Multi-stage Simultaneous Recurrent Networks (CMSRN), computer Go, and computer Go robotics. His area of research interest include, but not limited to Wireless Networks, (Artificial) Neural Networks or Computational Intelligence, and computer Go.

He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Computer and Electric Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T), formerly University of Missouri-Rolla, under advisership of Prof. Donald C. Wunsch II, a renowned scholar in the field of Computational Intelligence. He is also a member of Applied Computational Intelligence Laboratory (ACIL).

During his doctorate degree, he has been working on challenging and renovating research topics such as Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN)computer Go and CMSRN. DTN is the Internet for the universe that the father of the Internet Vint Cerf also participated in. Computer Go is one of the most challenging research topics classified as one of the unconquered problems in Computer Science. CMSRN is a novel artificial neural networks architecture with high complexity. His pioneering "fun" research project on computer Go robotics is the first in the literature to his knowledge. He also designed and taught a graduate-level class as a lecturer for two semesters at Missouri S&T.

He is privileged to work for premier companies in his field as an intern and full-time employee. Those companies include Siemens, Sony, BBN, and Qualcomm. He is also a recipient of LG Electronics Industry-Academia Scholarship and Siemens Student Program (SSP).

He has been cultivating leadership through extracurricular activities. One notably pioneering example is that he is the founder and president of Missouri S&T Baduk/Go/Weiqi Club. This club currently plays a pivotal role in the game of Baduk/Go/Weiqi and he plays the central role in shaping the history of the game in the state of Missouri. He humbly serves the community via his voluntary leadership.

He is fluent in five programming languages and three verbal languages. Additionally, he learned three more programming languages and two more verbal languages, so he can quick-start if necessary.
