Turkey won the 48th Eurovision song contest for the first time in a nail-biting final vote, with Sertab Erener "Every Way That I Can" winning the hearts of millions of Europeans with her explosive mix of rhythm and belly dancing.

The 52nd annual Miss World Pageant was held on December 7th, 2002 in North London. 21 year-old Azra Akin, Miss Turkey, won the pageant from a group of 92 delegates.

Turkish National Soccer Team won bronze medal in World-Cup 2002 held in Korea-Japan.
