Lecture 8: Circular motion

Objectives: In this lecture, students will learn to
  • distinguish between uniform and non-uniform circular motion
  • relate centripetal acceleration to speed and radius
  • identify forces responsible for creating centripetal acceleration
  • apply Newton's 2nd law to circular motion problems
  • analyze a car rounding flat and banked curves in terms of circular dynamics
