Objectives: In this lecture, students will learn to
  • define pressure
  • relate the increase in pressure to the increase in depth
  • formulate Pascal's Principle
  • explain fluid phenomena in terms of Pascal's Principle
  • relate the buoyancy force to the properties of the immersed object
  • apply Newton's 2nd law to static fluid problems
