Lecture 23: Angular Momentum

Objectives: In this lecture, students will learn to
  • define angular momentum of a particle and of a rigid rotating object
  • relate torque to change in angluar momentum
  • identify situations where the net torque equals zero
  • apply angular momentum conservation to rotational collisions and explosions
  • explain Kepler's 2nd Law in terms of angular momentum conservation
