Here you can see the physical setup of the cluster. Our main goal was to keep the cost down but still achieve a compact and robust cluster design.
  • 11 heavy duty steel shelves
  • 16 nodes per shelf
  • 1 Gigabit (24-port) switch per shelf
  • 2 nodes share a 1200VA UPS

Total hardware cost per node (including switches, UPS, shelving) is below $600.
