These are municipal ordinances of the city of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.  The ordi­nances are organized chronologically by date of enactment and are numbered consecutively.  Included are or­dinances dated from 30 May 1849 to 10 December 1895.

 

The ordinances deal with a variety of civil and criminal matters.  Regulations are set forth for municipal offices, and the duties of the city's officials are prescribed .  Specific penal­ties and fines are established for unlawful actions.  There are also numerous ordinances authorizing pay­ments for various financial obligations.

 

Volume 1 contains ordinances #1 through #122, 30 May 1849 through 6 September 1862.  A subject index precedes the ordinances in this volume.  Volume 2 has neither index nor pagina­tion.  Ordinances included date from 5 January 1863 to 10 December 1895.  They are numbered from #123 through #397.
