This volume includes property assessments for Jasper County, including records of acreage, slaves, and town lots.  John Hornback certified the list.

 

This volume was loaned to the Western Historical Manuscript Collection for micro­filming.  The original volume was returned to the donor, Marvin Van Gilder of Carthage, Mis­souri.

 

Property owners are listed in rough alphabetical order.  An alphabetical index has been filed in the Information Folder.  In addition to real estate holdings, slaves are enumer­ated and as­sessed.  Bonds and notes are also listed, and there are assessments for lots in Carthage and other towns in Jasper County.  John Hornback certified the list on 1 July 1861.
