This is a photocopy of an individual account book for medical services.  Albert Lee Evans, a Bonne Terre, Missouri, physician who began practice in Saint Francois County in 1900, kept the record.

The account book of Dr. Albert Lee Evans was loaned to the Western Historical Manuscript Collection for photocopying.  The original volume was returned to Nellie Evans in Bonne Terre, Missouri.  Miss Evans also sent biographical information about her father, which is summarized below.

Albert Lee Evans was born in Commerce, Missouri, on 28 November 1871.  He was the son of John Wesley Evans and Eliza Peterman Evans.  After his family moved to Farmington, Evans worked as a teacher and on a Mississippi River steamboat to finance his education.  He studied medicine at Barnes Medical College in St. Louis, and graduated in 1900.  He later completed postgraduate courses at Washington University in St. Louis and in New York.

Dr. Evans began his practice in Bonne Terre in 1900, and built up a large general and pediatric practice.  He died on 29 December 1958.  He is buried in the Bonne Terre Cemetery.
