These are booklets containing the proceedings of the 42nd (1904), 91st (1953) and 130th (1992) annual meetings of the Cane Creek Baptist Associa­tion.  In­cluded are the articles of faith and constitution, minutes, committee reports, and directories of churches and staff.  The booklet for 1953 is a photocopy of the original.  Organized in 1857, the Association includes congrega­tions in a wide area of southeastern Missouri.

 

The 42nd annual meeting of the Cane Creek Association of Baptist Churches met with the Naylor Baptist Church in Ripley County, Missouri, on 29 September through 1 October 1904.  The moderator was M. W. Cotton and the clerk was S. A. Wilkinson.  The Association included 28 congregations with 1661 members.  The largest churches were in Poplar Bluff, Doniphan, and Grandin.  The published proceedings included minutes, lists of ordained ministers and licentiates, committee reports, the constitution, articles of faith, rules of decorum, and the order of business.

 

The 91st annual meeting of the Cane Creek Baptist Association met with the Antioch Baptist Church on 1-2 October 1953.  The moderator was J. V. Fox and the clerk was Freeman Gibson.  There were 15 member congregations, the largest being Antioch Baptist Church (143 members).  Included are the constitution, rules of decorum, articles of faith, order of business, proceedings, re­ports, obituaries (no dates), and a list of pastors.

 

The 130th annual meeting of the Cane Creek Baptist Association met with the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church at Poplar Bluff on 2-3 October 1992.  The moderator was Jim Lea and the clerk was Dale G. Fish.  Included are minutes of the special called meeting of 20 June 1992 at Shiloh Baptist Church.  The Association had 21 member congregations, the largest being Provi­dence (112), Walnut Grove, and Independence.   Included in the proceedings is a “historical re­cord” with information about the annual meeting for every year for which data were available, be­ginning in 1857.  Also included are the articles of faith, constitution, bylaws, rules of decorum, or­der of business, reports, obituaries (name, birth date, and death date), and a church directory.
