This collection includes correspondence, business records and legal papers of, and genea­logi­cal information pertaining to two early families of Cape Girardeau County, Missouri.  The Ellis family came from Georgia about 1805; the Ranneys from Indiana about 1825.  Other names rep­re­sented in the collection are Beckham, Cobb, Giboney, Ogle, Waters, and Wathen (Warthen‑Worthan).
