These are records of Mora School in northern Benton County, Missouri.  Included are the records of the district clerk and attendance records kept by the teachers.

Mora School was located north of Cole Camp near the Pettis County line in Township 43 North, Range 21 West, in Benton County.  It was assigned district numbers 3 and 5, consecutively.  The records fall into two groups: those kept by the district clerk, and the attendance records maintained by the teachers.  Each volume contains several categories of records, the quantity and quality of which varied considerably with the inclinations and talents of the recorders.  Those maintained by the district clerk include minutes of meetings of the school’s directors, financial statements, lists of taxpayers and students, and annual reports on the school district.  Attendance records kept by the teachers include daily and term attendance totals, classification and standing of each student, reports on the condition of the school building and property, and registers of visitors to the school.

The records of the district clerks are complete for the period 1870-1957.  Attendance records are unavailable for the periods 1881-1886, 1918, and 1933-1952, but are otherwise complete.
