These are records of Ionia School in northern Benton County, Missouri.  Included are re­c­ords of the district clerk, 1941-1958, and daily and term attendance records kept by teachers, 1955-1958.

 

Ionia School was located in Township 43 North, Range 22 West, in Benton County.  It was assigned district number 9.  The records consist of two groups: district clerk’s records, and atten­dance records kept by the teachers.  Each volume contains several categories of entries, the quan­tity and quality of which varied considerably.  The clerk’s records include minutes of school meetings, financial statements, lists of taxpayers and students, and annual reports on the district.  The attendance records include the classification and standing of each student, reports on the con­dition of the school building and property, and registers of visitors to the school.
