These are records of Lake Creek School in the northeastern corner of Benton County, Mis­souri.  Included are daily and term attendance records kept by teachers, 1904-1953, and records of the district clerk, 1905-1958.

 

Lake Creek School was located in Township 43 North, Range 20 West, in Benton County.  It was designated as district number 1.  The records consist of two groups: attendance records kept by the teachers, and records maintained by the district clerks.  The materials in this collec­tion fall within the period 1904-1958.

 

Each volume contains several categories of entries.  The district clerk’s records in­clude min­utes of school meetings, financial statements, lists of taxpayers and students, and an­nual re­ports on the district.  The attendance records also include the classification and stand­ing of each stu­dent, reports on the condition of the school building and property, and registers of visitors to the school.
