This collection includes a cash book, minutes of meetings, yearbooks, and miscellaneous papers of a women’s club in Lebanon, Laclede County, Missouri.  Organized in 1919, the club disbanded in 1976.

Members of the Lebanon Study Club gathered at monthly and bi-weekly meetings to discuss civic topics, literature, and current events.  Although the purpose of the group was social and educational, the club contributed toward civic improvements in Lebanon and to charitable causes.  During the period 1965-1976, members supported the development of a municipal park in “Old Lebanon,” and assisted needy female students from the area.

The records of the club are available only for the last ten years of its existence, but minutes of some of the earlier meetings were published in the Lebanon newspaper.  Active membership was about twenty during the late 1960s, but it had dropped to a dozen by 1975.  The club was disbanded on 18 October 1976.  Funds remaining in the treasury were donated to the Laclede County Historical Society.
