R Domestic Science Club (Lebanon, Mo.).
297 Yearbooks, 1908-1943.
One folder.
These are pamphlet yearbooks of a women’s
club in Lebanon, Laclede County, Missouri,
organized in 1898 as the Home Economics Club.
The yearbooks include the constitution and by-laws, rosters of officers
and members, and committee assignments.
Mrs. Mary P. Wallace organized the Home
Economics Club at Lebanon
in the spring of 1898. The name was
changed to the Domestic Science Club in 1900.
As stated in the constitution, the objects of the club were to improve
conditions in homes and health, and to promote the teaching of domestic science
in the schools. Bi-weekly meetings
included presentations and discussions on household subjects. The club had about seventy active members
during the period represented by the yearbooks.
The Domestic Science Club became the
Lebanon Women’s Club sometime between 1943 and 1950. See Western Historical Manuscript
Collection-Rolla collection number R299.
