These are newsletters of a natural
history club in Lebanon, Laclede County, Missouri.
The newsletters include information on club activities, local
sightings of flora and fauna, and species counts.
The Lebanon Nature Club published its
first newsletter on 5 September 1934.
Frances E. Gleason was the editor through 9 October 1935, followed by George E. Moore. Members who are noted frequently in the
newsletters include Lulu Babb, Ernst Beck, Lillian Cook, W. I. Diffenderfer,
A. P. Draper, Dr. and Mrs. James Hyslop, Mrs. C. F. Lippman, Alice and Margery
Winkler, and Inez Smith. During the
period 1934-1940 members of the society reported sightings to the Biology
Department of the University of Missouri, organized Arbor Day ceremonies at Lebanon, and conducted field meets at Hahatonka
and Maramec Spring. The latter were
often held in conjunction with the Southwest Missouri chapter of the Audubon Society.
