This collection includes a minute book and miscellaneous papers of a wholesale grocery business located at Aurora, Lawrence County, Missouri.  The records include minutes of meetings of stockholders and directors, certificates of incorporation and dissolution, proxy authorizations, real estate papers, and an agreement to sell the remaining inventory in 1961.

The Aurora Grocer Company was established in 1906 by J. L. Robertson.  He was succeeded as president in 1942 by his son, Frank L. Robertson, and by his grandson, F. Gordon Robertson, in 1956.  Charles Turner was manager, secretary‑treasurer, and director of the firm for over thirty years.  Howard Roach, the last manager of the firm, spent his entire working career as an employee of the company.

The company handled wholesale groceries and related household supplies.  It dealt with many small retail establishments in southwestern Missouri.  It was a profitable business, paying dividends even during the years of the Depression.  The company closed its doors in 1961 upon the retirement of Howard Roach, its last manager.  The remaining stock was sold to the William F. Crome Company of Springfield, Missouri.
