These are letters by Lizzie C. Gilmore, a Union soldier’s wife, at Lebanon and Rolla, Mis­souri, and by her relatives in Keosauqua, Iowa, and Crittenden County, Kentucky.  The letters note political differences among family members, events preceding the Battle of Memphis in Scot­land County, Missouri, guerrilla activity in Kentucky, and depredations by bushwhackers in Laclede County, Missouri.
