These are minutes of meetings and a roster of members of the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church near Phillipsburg in Laclede County, Missouri.  The minutes deal primarily with the ad­mis­sion and exclusion of members.

 

Thirteen freewill, or regular, Baptists met on 1 November 1869 to organize the Liberty Church.  William H. Davis, Samuel Dennis, and John Hefton were chosen deacons, and San­ford Turner was appointed clerk.  The minute book begins with the organizational meeting and con­tin­ues through 29 August 1874.  The minutes are generally brief and routine, but there are rec­ords of several individuals excluded from the church for fighting, stealing, and other un­accept­able behav­ior.
