This collection includes correspondence, printed material, and ephemera collected by Louise Bradford (1898‑1986), and Eva Ann Bradford (1900‑1966), during their careers as teachers in Missouri schools.  Included are letters from former pupils, and printed materials from education and teachers associations, schools in Berkeley, Rolla, St. James, Salem, and Sullivan, Missouri, and women's clubs and service organizations in Dent and Phelps counties.

Louise and Eva Ann Bradford were daughters of John D. and Mary G. Bradford, early residents of Lake Spring in Dent County, Missouri.  Both were educated in Missouri, began their teaching careers in Dent County, and spent many years in St. Louis County.  Louise (1898‑1986) taught in Salem and Rolla and spent twenty‑six years in the Berkeley school system.  Eva Ann (1900‑1966) taught social studies and English at Salem and Sullivan.  After moving to St. Louis County she taught in Berkeley schools, and at Ritenour Junior High School.  Eva Ann died shortly after retirement from Ritenour, but Louise retired to the ancestral home at Lake Spring.

Most of the material in the collection consists of printed material pertaining to education and the various professional associations, local societies, and clubs to which the Bradfords belonged.  Materials directly concerning teaching as a profession include teacher’s certificates and contracts, printed programs and yearbooks from schools in Berkeley, Rolla, St. James, and Sullivan.  Yearbooks and newsletters represent many of the organizations in which the Bradfords had memberships.

A final group of miscellaneous material contains many items of historical interest.  Included are letters from relatives and former pupils serving in the armed forces during World War II, items from the USO Club at Rolla in 1944‑1945, a history of the town of Sullivan, circa 1944, and copies of the Civil War story of David Lenox of the Lake Spring community, Personal Memoirs of a Missouri Confederate Soldier.  Two folders of travel and vacation material include ephemeral items such as bus tickets, brochures, theatrical programs, and a menu from the Diamonds restaurant on U.S. Route 66.  Nine photographs and postcard views have been copied on 35mm color slides which are filed with miscellaneous Missouri items in Folder 24.
