R Van Sickle, Ferris H.
26 “History
of Mine La Motte,” 1949.
41 pages, typescript.
This is a photocopy of a term paper
prepared for a class at Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau,
Missouri.
John P. Skaggs, president of the Madison
County Historical Society, loaned the “History of Mine La Motte” for copying to
the Western Historical Manuscript Collection.
The paper was in the collection of the late Dr. W. Harry Barron of
Fredericktown, Missouri.
The history was written as a term project
for a class in history at Southeast Missouri State University at Cape
Girardeau. In a cover letter to Dr.
Barron, Van Sickle mentions a Dr. Collins, presumably the professor for whom the
paper was written. Van Sickle had access
to research materials from Dr. Barron's collection on Mine La Motte, including
an unpublished manuscript history compiled by Gertrude Scott Hall (WHMC-Rolla
Collection R025). A variety of
secondary sources are also cited.
