MICROFILM

These are the minute books of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Carterville in Jasper County, Missouri.  The volumes contain minutes of weekly meetings from 19 November 1907 through 10 October 1911.  Lodge business included initiation of new members, work on the various degrees of the order, payments of benefits to members, and discussion of matters concerning the lodge hall.

During the period represented by the minute books, the Carterville Odd Fellows Lodge consisted of twelve to fifteen active members, many of whom were connected with the mining industry in Jasper County.   O. W. Ainsworth, Harry M. Close, C. E. DeJornett, W. P. Pitman, W. B. Roberts, A. R. Spencer, and J. A. Williams were among the officers during this period.  The Lodge rented a hall until 1909, when it purchased the building.  It then rented the hall for meetings of the Grand Army of the Republic, the Women’s Relief Corps, and the Modern Woodmen of America.
