This is the district record book for Bridge School, a few miles west of Rolla in Phelps County, Missouri.  The records include the minutes of annual meetings, proceedings of the Board of Directors, teachers’ contracts, financial records, and enumeration of taxpayers and children in the district.

 

Bridge School was located about three miles west of Rolla in Township 37 North, Range 8 West, along what is now known as Bridge School Road.  It may also have been known as “Big” Bridge School, as indicated on the book plate inside the record book.  O. P. Paulsell, G. W. Gol­la­hon, Benjamin Gollahon, and J. H. Madigan were presidents of the Board of Directors during the period covered by these records.  Eliza Richter, Emma R. Madigan, Burr Yelton, Cora Bone­break, Ollie B. Ellis, Jennie Wade, and N. L. Hale were the teachers.
