These are records of various lodges of the Daughters of Rebekah in Jasper County, Missouri.  The collection includes minute books, membership registers, and rolls of officers for eight different lodges in Alba, Asbury, Carl Junction, Carterville, Neck City, Oronogo, and Webb City.

The Daughters of Rebekah were founded in 1851 as the women’s auxiliary to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.  Membership in the Rebekahs was available to all women of good character, as well as men belonging to the IOOF.  In cooperation with the Odd Fellows, Rebekah lodges have supported education, youth groups, and homes for orphans and the aged.  Known today as the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies, the order is now larger than the IOOF, although membership in both organizations continues to decline.

The records of Daughters of Rebekah lodges in Jasper County consist of membership registers, rolls of officers, and minute books representing eight lodges in seven mining towns in Jasper County, including those in Alba, Asbury (two separate lodges), Carl Junction, Carterville, Neck City, Oronogo, and Webb City.  Registers of members and/or rolls of officers exist for all of the lodges except Carl Junction.  The records for the Carterville Lodge No. 106 consist solely of membership applications, but the forms list the ages and occupations of prospective members.  The collection includes minute books for the lodges as Alba, Carl Junction, Neck City, Oronogo, and Webb City.  In no case are the minutes of meetings complete for the life of the lodge, but those for Carl Junction and Oronogo begin with the organizational meetings.  Tipped-in the minute book for Carl Junction is an historical sketch prepared on the fiftieth anniversary of the lodge.  Enclosed with the minute book for the North Fork Lodge at Neck City are annual reports to the state headquarters.  The minutes for North Fork Lodge conclude with permission from the state headquarters to consolidate with the Sunshine Lodge at Alba.
