This is a minute book of the Bank of Buffalo at Buffalo in Dallas County, Missouri.  In­cluded are min­utes of annual meetings of the stockholders and regular meetings of the board of di­rectors begin­ning 4 February 1891 and continuing through 13 November 1916.

 

The Bank of Buffalo was organized in 1891.  During the period represented by the minute book, the officers and major stockholders included Levi Engle, W. J. Evans, Mike Peyton, D. M. Rush, F. M. Self, W. A. Stanley, and W. Smithpeter.  F. M. Self was president of the bank for the last thirty years of its existence.  The Bank of Buffalo was a profitable enterprise for its stock­hold­ers and remained solvent during the Depression.  Through its major stockholders, the Bank of Buf­falo had close ties with the O’Bannon Banking Company.  In 1941 the O’Bannon firm purchased the Bank of Buffalo.
