This is the district clerk’s record book for District No. 6 in Jasper County, Missouri.  The re­cord book includes minutes of the annual meetings, proceedings of the board of directors, an­nual enumeration of the district, lists of resident tax payers, oaths of officers, estimates of school ex­penses, teachers’ contracts, and records of expenses.

 

District No. 6 was created in 1886 from parts of districts 2 and 5.  The District encom­passed parts of Townships 29 and 30, Range 31 and 32 in northern Jasper County.  The school, known as Dixie School, was first located four miles northeast of the town of Alba.  In September 1886, a new schoolhouse was built one mile north of Alba.
